Ferry Hail Mary? (The WAVE)

The Wave has learned that Mayor Bill de Blasio will meet with Congressman Gregory Meeks and Rockaway's other elected officials to talk about ways to possibly extend the Rockaway Ferry service, which is scheduled to end on October 31.
"It's a Hail Mary," stressed our source, who requested anonymity. "But it's very interesting, considering the timing."
Since the mayor's recent visits to Far Rockaway and Broad Channel, during which he was asked more about the ferry service and his decison to end it than any other issue, our source said the mayor finally agreed to sit down with the peninula's representatives about the issue.
"Meeks deserves all the credit for making this meeting happen" said our source. "He has been working on this very hard, especially of late."
The meeting is scheduled for sometime next week.
More details to come in Friday's edition.
